UWELL, the maker of the somewhat celebrated CROWN I tank and not-so-celebrated CROWN II tank, is back with another one, the CROWN III. The vape community is abuzz with the potential of the third CROWN tank, portending that hey, maybe the third time’s the charm. The CROWN I was generally lauded among vapers save for a few irremediable issues including coil consistency. And the CROWN II, was, well…much flash and no bang. Many complained of its inconsistency when it came to coils and of the flavor which was vastly lacking. Needless to say, UWELL’s got a lot to prove with the third version of its staple product. Thankfully, most reviews on the new CROWN tank appear to be positive.
There are several notable differences from the CROWN II to CROWN III, the first and foremost of which would be the design. While CROWN II offered somewhat dull, unimaginative colors like bronze, black, and silver, the CROWN III adds three fun new colors including sapphire blue, iridescent rainbow, and matte black. Other small touches that are hard to miss is the engraved insignia of a crown right on the chimney inside the tank and a festive multicolored drip tip that serves as a contrast to the rest of the tank.
So CROWN III sure has upped its game in the purely aesthetic department but what of the performance? Well, according to those who got a first look at the CROWN III, the tank comes with an improved chimney design meant to better control leakage and condensation. Further, the coils heads underwent a bit of operation as well, re-emerging completely different from its predecessor. The coil head is one airhole the poorer (the CROWN II coil featured four airholes at the tip; the CROWN III has three), more elongated and cylindrical in shape than its previous bullet style design, and can be plugged and pulled from the bottom of the tank which trumps the traditional twist and screw mechanism by a mile. All these improved features apparently lead to improved flavor and convenience, something that vapers are always on the lookout for. Additionally, the third tank does away with the 0.8-ohm coil altogether, sticking with the standard 0.25 and 0.5 ohms. The 0.25 allows for wattages up to 90, and the 0.5 allows up to 80.
But wait! That’s not all! The CROWN III also comes equipped with a handy dandy “key” that will allow you to unlatch the tank from your mod if the tank is screwed on too tightly. What a simple yet genius accessory! With this little key, you will no longer test your patience trying to detach your tank from the mod. Another seemingly random but equally genius accessory is the drip tip guard (or as one reviewer hilarious called it, a “drip tip condom”) which will, you know, guard your drip tip from unforeseen external elements. Need I say more?
And there ya have it, folks. The CROWN III broken down in all its bits and pieces. If you deign to give this new CROWN tank a try, then it’s available online for about $35. As per usual, you are more than welcome to check out the tank for yourself at our shop!
